Carpet Care & Maintenance

To keep your new carpet looking and feeling its best for many years to come, it's important to consider daily care as well as preventative maintenance. Read on to learn more!

Daily care & maintenance

Before establishing a daily care and maintenance routine, consider preventative maintenance. Place welcome mats and area rugs at all entrances to help catch dirt and moisture tracked in on shoes. Be sure to clean those mats regularly! It's not a bad idea to rearrange your furniture every so often to give your carpets a break. And be sure to take care when moving furniture or other heavy objects across your carpet!

Next, start incorporating some daily care tips into your cleaning routine. Use a manufacturer-approved vacuum as often as needed, especially in high-traffic areas. When cleaning spills or stains, act quickly and use only a manufacturer-approved cleaning product.

Dealing with spills & stains

While many of today's carpets are stain-resistant, you'll still want to address messes and dirt quickly. Carpet is not 100% stain-proof, after all!

If you see a spill, use warm water and a gentle detergent. Blot the stain with a clean cloth. Don't rub! Be sure to then blot the area dry with a separate cloth, taking care not to leave the carpet saturated. If you need to use a cleaning product, make sure it is manufacturer-approved. Never use bleach on your carpet!
